So I’d say I was a short distance runner until I met Misty. I always dreamed about putting my big girl shoes on and running a marathon. I expressed to her that it was on my list of things I wanted to train for but had no idea where to start or how to train for something that big. Instantly she wanted to know my schedule as she designed my own training program leading up to Monumental. That is as schedule I am always going to go back to. Coach Misty believes in her athletes and teaches us to keep a positive mindset and to always keep pushing forward. She also teaches us that consistency is key. She has coached me many times over the years, and I’m a better runner and athlete because of her training. She’s coached me with speed interval workouts, half marathons, 10ks, and 5ks, and all of my PRs are all the result of the hard work I put in while Misty has coached me. I’ve learned so much from her leading by example and believing in me, while helping me to believe in myself over the years. She is bar none the BEST in what she does. Misty has been my online running coach since March 2015. When she first started coaching me, I was 47 years old, and had been running for a little less than 2 years. I had never run in a race of any kind. My first race was running the Monumental Marathon in Indy in November 2015, and she has helped me run and complete 4 marathons, and at least 16 half marathons. What has kept me as one of her students for 7+ years is her constant encouragement in the ups and downs of my running. She has given me invaluable advice on injury recovery and prevention, as well as improving my running and overall fitness as I continue to run into my 50's. No doubt the best thing I could have ever done for my running was to have Misty as my running coach.
I decided after about six years to run a half marathon. I didn’t know where to begin with my training, so I talked with Coach Misty. She was very positive, encouraging, and knowledgeable. We trained according to heart rate which fascinated me. She checked in with me every week to see how the runs went both physically and mentally, and always made me aware that schedules can be modified when need be. She was just a text or call away if I was struggling or to celebrate a good day. I was amazed how much faster I was running training this way. She knows her stuff!! Additionally, Misty is a certified run coach through Jack Daniels VDOT, FFS, and STRIDE. With extensive racing experience, including 40 marathons and 7 Boston Marathons, as well as completing ultra-marathons ranging from 50K to 100 miles, Misty is well-equipped to provide training that is tailored to your unique needs and abilities.
