Back in Lake County, and It Feels Like Home
In 2022, I sat down with a notebook and a vision: launch three offices in the three key counties of Northwest Indiana. It was bold. It was ambitious. And it felt a little crazy. But it was the kind of crazy you chase when you believe in what you’re building, and more importantly, who you’re building it with.
Valpo: Where It Started
We started in Valparaiso. That first office was more than just a launch. It was proof of concept. A space where a small but mighty team came together and laid the foundation for what Brokerworks could become.
Madison, Danek, Caylie, and Kallie, you were the first believers. This company wouldn’t be what it is without you.
The Call from Boston
Not long after, while I was in Boston, I got a call from Stacey and Kristy asking about Brokerworks. That conversation turned into a chapter we didn’t know we needed. They were the kind of dream agents you build a market around. And that’s exactly what happened.
We launched La Porte the following year, and those two have been setting the bar ever since.
Highland: The Final Piece
The final piece was always Lake County.
Most people don’t know this, but before Brokerworks had an address, I lived in downtown Crown Point. It’s where I met my future wife. It’s where I first imagined what a company like this could look like.
So to circle back, 30 months later, with our Highland office finally open, it’s more than a milestone. It’s personal.
This one took time. It took resilience, late-night strategy sessions, hard conversations, and big decisions. And through it all, Misty was right there. Steady, wise, and always stepping in at just the right moment. Her leadership and heart are at the core of everything we do.
I also couldn’t have done it without Jake and Mark, who have poured themselves into this company since the very beginning. Launching in their hometown feels right. They helped build the foundation we’re standing on.
We also wouldn’t be where we are without Arlene and Bill, two more leaders from Crown Point who have shaped this company since the early days. Their wisdom, experience, and heart are everywhere in our culture. The Highland office might be new, but the leadership behind it runs deep.

To our agents, whether you’ve been here since day one or just joined last week, you are Brokerworks.
You bring the energy, the grit, and the heart that makes this company what it is. You’re building something truly special, and I don’t take that lightly.
To our fellow broker/owners and peers across the region, thank you. Your support and willingness to collaborate have meant the world. It says a lot about the kind of industry we’re lucky to be part of.
And to those of you reading this who’ve helped behind the scenes, you know who you are. You’ve been the quiet champions, the sounding boards, the ones who show up when I need it most. I see you. I appreciate you.

The new Highland office isn’t just another location. It’s a bold step into a market we believe in, with a team we believe in even more.
